people are always asking me
if i know DANNY.
See that handsome devil up there? The guy with the fashionably rumpled hair, honestly earned muscles and the 'don't make me hurt you' scowl? That is the ex-homicide detective turned-Hunter, Danny Slame and he's oh-so-happy to meet you.
As the result of what happens when a kid is conditioned to love his life on the street, Danny is savvy, jaded and a recovering gamblaholic. He prides himself on being fair minded, cool and collected, and very patient. He hates bullies, tends to beat on abusers for fun, and has been known to be in touch with his 'soft and squishy side.' But that's far and in between; he has a reputation to uphold.
As a former member of the Boston Police Department, he has a love of all things law and order. He's also just been paroled from the state correction's facility after a year and a half stint for manslaughter, so he's a tad on the twitchy side. He'll do his best not to shoot you for coming too close to his back.
However, if you find yourself sporting fangs or enjoying the taste of first-born babies, you will not be spared.
As long as he feels respected and is left well enough alone, Danny is just your average, quiet Hunter who's just looking to survive.
...And he's a closet Al Green fan. Who would've thought?

'A bit on the prickly side' would be a bit of an understatement for this particular hunter. While he does love a good beer with a buddy or two, it's very hard to get close to him, thanks to rampant paranoia and a naturally jaded personality. But, if one were persistent enough, they could probably break through his distrustful demeanor with a few shows of loyalty. Maybe a vampire head on a pike, or a bag of Pringles left unopened in his car. The little things.
Shows of bravery will also win the ex-cop's respect, and he has been known to hand out favors when he thinks someone's worthy enough for them. Call it a tendency to align himself with people who are liable to live for longer than ten seconds out on the street.
For obvious reasons, Danny has his fair share of enemies. His acidic wit and inability to trust easily has made him very closed off and very biting. It's ridiculously easy to get on his bad side, and once there, it's VERY hard to get off again. And, unfortunately for those on this list, he tends to favor the vindictive side of having enemies. Rumor has it that he's even set up one or two for the local monsters, when out on the road.
It's just speculation at the moment, however. But who knows, when it comes to this short tempered piece of angry poo?
In short, the quickest way to get on Slame's bad side is to ask about his past, or invade his 'private space.' He's paranoid; end of story.
Even though he can string some very skilled words together, Danny has not had many lovers over the years. Before the world went to hell, he'd been engaged to the love of his life, and had witnessed her very bloody murder.
These past experiences have jaded him toward ever allowing another living person to be around him while he's vulnerable or asleep, and as such, he's a fan of the 'quick and dirty lay.' Most of his ventures into this territory are one-night stands, with the other party understanding that he will not stay the night, and will not acknowledge them on the street the next day. If anything, most of these liaisons are strictly done with those with mindsets like his, and only to scratch a biological itch.
At the same time, however, the ex-cop is intrigued with the idea of love. He'll never admit it out loud and would probably react violently if prodded, but deep down inside, he hopes to find what he'd had with his fiancé once again.
Just don't try to betray him. He might pride himself on being fair-minded, but his temper is reputably explosive.
