Faust, focusing his inner heat to the tips of his fingers, pinched the upper corner of an old and yellowing book page between his index finger and thumb. Smoke coiled around the pads of his fingertips and vanished into the air as slowly the old page burned away at his touch. Before a flame could spark and devour the entirety of the page and consume the entire book, he removed his fingers and observed his hand work. Page twenty-six would forever hold his mark: a heat-eaten corner. The dragon regarded the damaged page before closing the book and setting it on a cart full of other discarded books whose readers had been too lazy to return to their assigned shelves.
Shoving the chair backward across the floor, Faust stood. He ushered the chair back under the table and stuff his right hand into his jeans pocket and clutched at the small gold coin that sat at the bottom. He removed it, pressing it firmly against his palm, and then very carefully revealed it to the harsh florescent lights that glared from above. It was an old gold dinar which predated even the old dragon. Part of the designs had been worn smooth from Faust's constant handling, a fact that quite annoyed him, but it was gold and it was close to him -- that's all that mattered.
Gold in hand, and feeling comfortable, the man wandered through the maze of shelves, his eyes roaming the many marked spines of books, until one blue book with the picture of a dragon caught his eye. Scrawled across the spine and cover was the word: Eragon. Curiosity, being such a horrible and devious thing, quickly persuaded the man to take the book and flip through it. He skimmed few chapters (not in order) and eventually set the book down in disgust. People riding dragons? Absurd! He turned away from the book with a scowl and continued his wanderings, knocking into a child who had just rounded the corner in haste. Faust, knocked back several feet, fell against a shelf. Several books fell from their assigned rows, know knocking against Faust before falling to the floor. The child was gone by the time the man recovered, and several people were looking at the man as if he were the fool to cause it all.

The library was a wonderful thing. Yin loved to find whichever one in the area she was currently residing and read a book for a good hour or two. She never bought a library card, because where was the use in that? Yin never stuck around long enough anyhow, and she hadn't the money or address too apply for one. It was easier to sit in a library from the time it opened till the time it closed and get through a book that way. Reading was one of her favorite hobbies. She loved to read fictions the most, especially lore and mythology. If only people realized it wasn't as fake as it came off to be. She was a testimony to that; the demon smirked to herself as she flipped through the Necronomicon.
Her mind was quietly wandering back continuously to a certain someone she'd been spending a lot of time with. The heat rose in her cheeks as she bade it a farewell and shoved the memories back into her mind. He was a lot of fun to hang out with. Yin hadn't thought she'd find a friend so quickly, or, for that matter, sleep with him. I-it was a heat of the moment thing... She thought dully, because she knew she was lying. The two had been toying with each other for at least a little over a week at that point. It hadn't meant anything, right? They were simply now friends...with benefits. Oh hush you idiot! Get back to your book.
The demon was about to continue her reading when she heard a crash and books falling from shelves. This made the demon look up and blink curiously. What had just happened? She got to her feet, closed her book, and went to investigate.
What had she found none other than a dragon in disguise? Yin hadn't seen one of those before, but she could sense what he was. She nearly giggled in amusement at the scene, but chose to save his life instead. "There you are! What have you gotten into now?" She exclaimed and shook her head. She approached the dragon and took his hand to help him up. A small, friendly smile spread across her lips. "Are you getting into trouble again? Come on, I'll help you pick these up and make the shelves good as new."
Yin turned to the fallen books and began to pick them up.

Flustered and a good bit miffed, Faust rest his elbow against a row of the shelves and began to hoist himself to his feet, his eyes searching out any sign of movement from the child who had nearly flattened him beneath a mountain of books. He briefly entertained the thought of tying him to some vaulted ceiling upside down, but such planning was left for later when his noticed a woman marching toward him with a familiarity he wasn't used to. Her words matched her body language, catching the dragon slightly off guard. Was she mistaking him for someone else? "Here I am," he said, glancing briefly to her hand before taking it and allowing for her assistance in the rest of the venture of returning to his feet. "Quite a lot of books," remarked the Dragon, sticking a hand into his pocket to feel the cold coin (the first and foremost thing on his mind at the moment) before looking around at all of the fallen books and the woman - no, not a woman? - as she began to pick them up. Faust bent to assist the woman, collecting several larger books before randomly returning them to the shelves. He had no time to organize, besides, it hadn't been his fault. Whoever had let their child off of its leash was to blame here.
"I don't believe we've met," Faust pointed out. "I appreciate your help, though." Faust made no effort to introduce himself - he found that if naming himself to anyone could be avoided, he would do so. It was better to remain a blank face in a crowd of unfamiliar people than to stick out like a sore thumb and risk recognition in any form. Such was the life of an immortal among mortals. She does not strike me as mortal, though, thought the man as he looked to the shelves he had messily stacked. It would be best to leave the reordering to a librarian. "Not exactly 'good as new'," commented the dragon, briefly placing a finger against the spine of a red book. "It is good enough, though." Shoving both hands into his pockets, Faust took a step back and looked about before returning his eyes to the dark-haired woman. "Are you looking for something?"

"Duh, we've never met. I'm pretending to know you. Y'know...acting? It's to make things less awkward for the crowd."
The demon gestured to all the people, who were now minding their own business. She shrugged and stacked the last book on the shelf before inspecting their handiwork. It wasn't good as new, as he'd said, but it'd do. She gave the dragon a good-humored pat on the shoulder. He didn't seem to be nervous of her. Did he not sense she was a demon, or did he not care? There were plenty of creatures not scared of demons. It was the angels most people feared.
"So, what brings you to the library? Are you an avid reader, or is something else catching your eye?"
She rose a brow at him before smiling pleasantly and holding her hand out. "My name is Yin, by the way. It's nice to meet you...?"
Was she looking for something? No. Yin just loved to read. She shrugged in response to that question. There were plenty of fictions she could be looking for right now. She'd decided to help him out instead and be a good citizen. That had to earn some brownie points with the big man upstairs, right? "I just like reading, that's all."

"I figured as much," the dragon murmured to himself, glancing away from the demon as she spoke. "Again, I thank you for your help." The dragon's eyes shifted to the many people milling about the library, pulling books from shelves, flipping through pages both old and new, briefly wondering why such a race had to exist. "I come here because it's generally quiet and low-key," Faust answered as his eyes swooped over the last few people before returning to the demon. "And I like to read, but there isn't much that I haven't read that would be of use to me."
Over the many years he had lived his life the dragon had been able to gain whatever knowledge he had desired to read. There was plenty he knew at this point and some he didn't know. It was generally the old books and writings he stuck to, something closer to his original time. I've lived through so much, he thought just as the demon introduced herself and extended a hand.
Faust glanced down at the offering of her hand and gingerly took it within his. "I'm Faust," he said, shaking hands. Withdrawing his hand, the man glanced about. "I like reading as well. It's a fine hobby to partake in."

He was an avid reader. Yin could respect that. She could also respect his wish for peace and quiet. Unfortunately, that was becoming less and less a thing that could be found in libraries. Rowdy teenagers and children were always things that ruined the otherwise nice atmosphere. Yin wished the little monsters were banned from public libraries, or that there were libraries separate for adults only. Then the order that had once been the library could be restored.
"Well, they say knowledge is power," Yin laughed quietly. She wasn't about to be a hypocrite to what she'd just stated in her mind by being loud. "I take it that means you like nonfiction, then? I'm more into fiction." What was funny was a lot of the fiction humans thought were fake were actually real. Like demons.
After shaking the dragon's hand, Yin gestured for the two to take a seat. She liked him already, and Yin was in desperate need of friends. "Faust. It's a pleasure, truly. Why don't we sit and have a small chat? I'm sort of bored, you see, and some companionship would be lovely." She'd never met or spoken to a dragon before. Yin was hoping this to be a good experience.

Faust chuckled. Fiction? "Fiction is a label for the blind," he said as he maneuvered himself towards two open chairs. "And ignorant." He added with a nod of his head to himself. Humans, as a whole, were ignorant little creatures with their heads so far up their asses he was surprised they had advanced so much as a species. Of course now he figured they were beginning their decline. Reaching the two chairs he rest his hands on the back of one, standing behind it, and waited for Yin to take a seat before he turned his own chair around and sat in it, straddling the back and folding his arms across the top. "A chat," the dragon said through an exhaled breath, his green eyes crossing the library briefly before returning to Yin. "What does a dragon chat to a demon about?" He asked, leaning more weight onto his arms, a grin tweaking a corner of his mouth. "Current events?" If that were the case he was sorely behind on news. The dragon preferred to live in his own little world, away from trouble and responsibility - he liked to follow his own path and stay out of the troubles of others, which probably contributed to his current extensive life span.
"So," he began, the chair creaking as he shifted his weight around. "You're looking for companionship?" The dragon couldn't remember a time any other "supernatural" being had asked for his company, let alone his companionship. "Why so lonely, demon, that you seek out another better being?"

Faust looked to his fingers and picked at a break in the nail on his index finger. "Exactly my point," stated the dragon as he pulled part of the nail off and flicked it onto the floor. Curling his fingers in toward the palm of his hands he examined the nails before his attention was grabbed by one word: traitor. "Traitor?" Faust repeated, glancing up toward the demon, but she had already moved back to books. The thought of treason was more intriguing than what he could find in the easily burned pages of a book. He was about to let his interest in her apparent treason to be known when she asked about him, offering up her own story as a response.
Faust frowned a bit and drummed his fingernails against the back of the chair while he wondered if this would be a good idea. "About me," he said through an exhalation of breath. Did he want to tell her about himself? "Well, I'm a dragon," Faust said, flashing her a toothy smile. A piece of information that was already know was always something safe to give -- to certain people. "There's not really much else that's interesting about me." Again he drummed his fingers against the wood of the chair. "I'm a very curious dragon, though. Why are you considered a traitor?"

"Oh," Faust said, leaning away from the back of the chair. He was more than a little disappointed, having expected something with a little more... flare. All she did was essentially tell them all to go fuck themselves before storming out. Not quite the kind of gossip that would keep someone interested. "You're more of a disgruntled employee than a traitor," Faust offered. "Labeling yourself as a traitor is like winning a cake which you discover is hollow and empty." The dragon shook his head slightly and sighed. "So, demon who has given hell the middle finger, what do you plan to do now? Still causing mischief?"

Faust scoffed and looked away with a shake of his head. "Faith. Religion." The words were like soap in his mouth: bitter, painful. The dragon had no such intentions to invest his life to anyone or anything but himself - even though He and his army of angels were prowling along with the underlings. Much like Yin. The loyal ones at least. "So," Faust started, leaning away from the back of his chair and fixing his green eyes on the demon Yin. "They're on a head hunt, hm? And you're the fox? That's not very good." Faust, along with his species had, for a time, been the hunted ones. Stupid, cowardly knights hiding behind their special swords crafted just for the purpose of slaughtering his kind. Fortunately with their deaths they faded into the background and became nothing but a myth - everyone had forgotten the great beasts, and really it was for the better. Faust could mostly move around with ease, and if someone saw him... well... people would deem that person a nutcase.
"So now you party." This amused Faust, evident by the smirk that tugged at the corner of his mouth. "I avoid parties myself - too many humans. I prefer to stay away from the stupid things." And stupid they were... "So, what kinds of deals have you done, demon?"
