BLACKBIRD SINGING IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT TAKE THESE BROKEN WINGS AND LEARN TO FLY YOU WERE ONLY WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT TO RISE In the process of being admitted into a human hospital, Yin Izumi had passed out. She'd remained asleep for hours while bandages were put over her wounds and was then put in a recovery room. They wanted to keep her, but the demon was not aware of that. She wasn't aware of anything except the blackness behind her eyelids. The demon was dreamless; it was a restless slumber. The question still begged in her subconscious: did demons sleep? Angels did not sleep, but, in a way, demons were more human than angels. This could mean that humans were simply more corrupt, but Yin had noticed how she felt so much more than the average angelic being. It could be that demons were made from corrupted human souls, and angels were not. Yin, technically, was simply a corrupted human. This begged another question deep down.
Could she be redeemed?
Her eyes fluttered open at the sound of a voice with a lightly peppered British accent. It'd been the voice she'd heard when the iron nails had been removed from her hands and feet.
"I'll bet whoever did this was a religious nutcase. I found her nailed up like our savior Jesus Christ."
The tall, skinny angel was conversing with authorities. He was trying to lie to them, but how elaborate of a liar was he? Yin shifted in the hospital bed; he seemed a bit...too...detailed in his story. Savior Jesus Christ? Please...they probably thought he was some kind of bible thumper. Yin assumed he didn't lie often, but most angels, she figured, didn't. They weren't supposed to be programmed to lie, were they? That was a demon's job. Yin always thought they never lied, per say, but simply withheld information.
The real question was: who was he? Yin felt she had seen him a few times before, but she knew nothing else of him. Was he a friend? Enemy? Why did he save her? Her head hurt from all the questions swirling in her mind as well as the pain medication she was surely on. Yin swore she was going to start seeing doubles.
"Where am I?" She blurted out softly because it seemed like the appropriate thing to do. The next thing was probably a result from the drugs pumping through her veins. "Where's Gabriel...?"
The skinny angel turned in surprise to her speaking. He adjusted the dark glasses on his face and managed to give her a small smile. "I see you're awake, Yin. You've been asleep for nearly the entire day now. They were all a bit worried with all those wounds of yours." He turned and shooed the police officer off before coming and sitting next to her bedside. "My name is Ramiel. I'm in charge of watching over you for a while."
...He was in charge of watching over her...? What?

Gabriel was downstairs, in the cafeteria, his head still swimming with thoughts of revenge and eyes scanning through the rows of muffins on the counter. He finally grabbed up a bundle of chocolate chip muffins, handed the smiling woman at the counter a ten dollar bill and crept back up the stairs to Yin's room. He would have taken the elevator, had he wanted to, but he felt like he needed to stretch his vessels legs for a bit. Not to mention, hiking up step after step was good for getting the mind working and thoughts flowing. Gabe finally stopped at the top step, staring down intently at the muffins in his hands.
I'm going to find them...those no good...filthy...bastards...
Without even realizing it, Gabe had completely crushed the muffins, the cakes disintegrating into a thousand bits and then disappearing from the eyes view. He took a shaky breathe, wiping his crumb covered hands off on his jeans. Gabriel couldn't remember the last time anger had coursed through him like this. It was as if everything that he had bottled up inside for so long was now flooding out, Yin getting tortured was the last straw. The archangel had been through so much and this was his breaking point.
The only thing holding him back from flipping his lid was Yin, asleep in the hospital room a few doors away. Gabriel had never fallen so hard for someone before and he was overwhelmed. Love was a touchy subject for him. He had never found someone that he had cared for so much, other than family. Even his surrogate siblings, the pagans, didn't have the pleasure of Gabe's undying love. So to have a lowly demon have it was a sure shocker. It was almost like a fairy tale. The heroic archangel, falls in love with the demonic Crossroads scum.
But she wasn't scum. She wasn't like the others. Gabriel had no issues with Yin. She was sensitive, intelligent, and by golly did she have nice calves. What? The Trickster had to admit, physical attraction was one of the many forms of attraction he had towards this girl. He just couldn't help himself.
Gabriel poked his head into Yin's room, a cheeky grin crossing over his face, although it dimmed a little when he saw Ramiel still there. Dang it, why was he still here? "Guess Rambo's your new best friend, eh Carebear?"

BLACKBIRD SINGING IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT TAKE THESE BROKEN WINGS AND LEARN TO FLY YOU WERE ONLY WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT TO RISE He really was around the corner whenever she needed him. Yin perked up at the sound of his voice and a good-natured, teasing smile spread across her lips. "Oh darling, he's been up here charming me so hard. I think you might actually get replaced by this handsome angel!"
Ramiel gave her a look of utter confusion and shook his head. "W-what? No, I haven't been trying to charm you at all, Miss Izumi. I'm simply informing you that, from now on, I'm your guardian. My duty is to protect you at all costs."
Yin erupted into laughter as he finished despite the pain it put her sides in. "See? He has to protect me at all costs! What a charmer!" She could get over the pain. Demons healed faster than humans. The doctors were going to be amazed when she walked out of here tomorrow with not a scratch. If only they knew what really hid in the dark.
The demon sat up more in her bed as not to look too pitiful. She was in the presence of two upper beings now...not that she cared that much. One of them was apparently her protector, and the other she swore she was falling for and had already fucked him. Yin wasn't in that much danger. "I'm glad to see you again. I really am." Her dark eyes glowed happily as she waited for him to fully enter the room.
Ramiel cast a glance back at him before looking back at Yin thoughtfully. He knew what he had to do. This had already gone too far, and he had a job to stop it. "Actually, Gabriel, can you give my charge and I a few moments alone? There are things I need to relay to her that only she can hear. It's guardian-related, since I'm her new guardian. You know how it is..." He gave his brother a polite smile. It wasn't a request, though, Ramiel was telling him to go. He didn't want his brother in the room for what he had to say.

"Glad to see you too, Yinnybear." Gabriel smiled, moving into the doorway more, his eyes shifting from Yin to Ramiel. He had a feeling that something was wrong and his thoughts were confirmed when Ramiel asked him to leave. Or rather, told him to leave. Gabe didn't appreciate that much. He's a very stubborn guy, in case you hadn't noticed yet, and he wasn't one to just blindly take orders. Especially from his nerd of a brother of all people.
"Whatever you have to say to Yin, you can say in front of me." he says, eyes narrowing. He tried to keep a polite tone, to match the other archangels and avoid a conflict. He already had enough problems with his siblings as it was, he didn't want to start more trouble that he just couldn't handle. Gabriel was treading on thin ice, ready to snap at any moment. If he were to do that, then this whole building would be rubble and this whole area would be destroyed. If there is one thing people should watch out for is moody, pissed off archangels.
They're the highest ranking for a reason, you know.
Gabriel held a scowl on his face, eyes locked onto Ramiel. He was watching his movements, analyzing them per say. He knew that if he didn't just do what he said he'd attempt to use force. Not that he was fully expecting Ramiel to get physical. His brother was always so...sensitive and pathetic, really. Its a rare moment in time when he decides to go Rambo on someone.
"Got a problem with that, pal?"

Its really good to hear you voice(SAYING MY NAME)Ramiel should've expected this. His brother was angry; Ramiel could feel the anger rolling off him in waves. It was almost disturbing. Where was his brother? Gabriel was never like this. He was always carefree about things, but now this...all because of an injured demon. It was illogical and utterly confused the Archangel. If only his brother weren't so stubborn. That was something that sometimes got on Ramiel's nerves. Gabriel could never just listen and make things easy. No, he always had to be the difficult child. It was no wonder Father...No...he shouldn't think that. His feelings were getting ahead of him. Ramiel closed his violet eyes and adjusted his glasses. Honestly, Ramiel loved his brother. He truly did. It was just sometimes hard to handle him. Gabriel had a talent for getting on people's nerves, and Ramiel was no different.
"Brother, please...it's just standard procedure..." His hands lifted helplessly, "there's nothing I can do. The rules are the rules..."
Yin looked between the two with a tense look on her face. The demon could sense the tension rising. This certainly could not be good for her health. Ramiel stood from his seat and took a few steps toward Gabriel. His movements were casual and calm. He wasn't sure how to react around his brother with that ticking timebomb deep inside of him slowly rising. Ramiel feared he'd explode and kill the demon on accident along with many other innocents. The Archangel would not have this. "It will only be a moment. I swear on it! Then you can come and sit in here with Miss Izumi."
"Gabriel...?" Yin suddenly spoke up. Her voice was low and reassuring. Her dark eyes soft, understanding...it was strange to see that look in the eyes of a demon. Ramiel had never seen it before. "Gabriel, I'm sure it's fine. It's like Ramiel said...it's just standard stuff...I'll be here when he's done. I'm sure it'll only take a few minutes...Just wait outside, okay?" The demon winked playfully and grinned. "Miss me for a bit, hm?"

Gabriel tensed as Ramiel came towards him, expecting to get whacked upside the head. But instead, his brother merely spoke, in his usual calm voice. It was annoying, to watch Ramiel be so cool and collective. It was supposed to be Gabe that was calm, damn it! What the hell was happening to him? He opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out, his eyes diverted to Yin and her playful wink. Oh, why did she have to be so darn cute?
"Fine..." he muttered in defeat, smiling a little bit at the demon. "Call me when you two are done." Gabriel didn't even say anything to the other archangel as he left the room, leaving Mr. Bigshot with his "charge". What that was about he hadn't a clue, but he knew he'd look into it later on.
Gabriel went out into the hallway, head swiveling left and then right before making his way to the waiting room down the hall. He went inside, banged his fist against the vending machine once and swiped up a bag of doritos. If he was going to wait, he was going to eat while he did so! This better not take too long...Or I'm going to need more than one vending machine to keep me occupied.
He nibbled the doritos and sat in a chair, unusually stiff. Gabriel watched people wander in and out of the room he was in, their faces like zombies, their movements like robots. He pitied them as they moped, their loved ones dying or getting surgery or dangerously sick. Humans were so weak, so sensitive...
....and Gabriel couldn't help but to wonder if he was becoming that way too.

It was a soft swish of the wind and Ramiel was beside his brother. He adjusted his glasses and looked down at the angel as he munched on the chips. Those things were terrible for one's health. Ramiel disapproved of the foods his brother ate.
The angel cleared his throat and gestured toward the room Yin was safely tucked in. "She says she wants to speak with you." He would fail to mention that her condition right now was quite...exasperated. It had been a good choice, he thought, to tell her the truth. Ramiel knew she would hurt for a while, but if it stopped now then everything would turn out fine. Wounds healed.
He vanished and appeared in front of Yin's door. He would not enter and interrupt their conversation. Ramiel was respectful enough to stand outside and wait.

Gabriel glanced up at Ramiel from his seat, cocking his head to one side. Wonder what that bag of dicks told her.... He thought as he hopped up, the bag of chips disappearing as he wandered back down the hall to Yin's room. Something in the pit of his stomach was telling him something was wrong....Something he'd have to smack Ramiel upside the head for. Your just mad because you couldn't eavesdrop.... Gabriel told himself, trying to be positive. Just because Rambo didn't want you to listen in doesn't mean it had something to do with you.
Gabriel walked into his companions room, giving her a toothy grin and going over to her bedside. "You okay, love-a-lot bear?" he questions, watching the look on her face. ...Somethings wrong. a voice nagged at him. Look at that look...look at it....Is that pain? Anguish? What the hell did Ramiel tell her!?
Gabe gave her a worried look, watching the doorway out of the corner of his eye. Ramiel, that bastard, was waiting outside. Its a good thing too, because if he was in here I'd probably be pummeling him right now.
".......Yin?"

'What do I say...?'
Yin sat in her bed as she quietly watched her sheets and fiddled with them between her fingers. They were so thin. How could any patient possibly enjoy them for warmth at night? It was a trivial question that distracted her from what Ramiel had told her. She knew he'd had the best of intentions, but Yin would've rather not known. It would've been better that way. Her dark eyes closed as her heart sunk into her stomach.
'It's not like I can really blame him.'
Then he entered the room. Yin couldn't even look at him; she didn't want him to see her expression. She didn't want to cry, or scream, or try to hit him again. Yin wanted to lock it all away and forget about it, but...she couldn't. It kept coming back. So, she'd decided to admit what she knew, and what Ramiel had said about it being best they split. Maybe it was the best thing.
The demon's gaze slowly turned on him as he spoke her real name. Her lips parted as if to say something, but instead her hands lifted and covered her eyes. They were beginning to water, already? 'Stop it. You're being dramatic, you moron. What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you crying? This isn't a big deal...it's not...' But it was. It was a big deal. To her. 'Suck it up, you big baby. Stop crying. You look like an idiot. A melodramatic idiot.'
Her hands pulled away from her eyes as she blinked the tears back. Yin looked at Gabriel again; this time with an apologetic stare. She hadn't meant to just break down like that. Her mind was on a coaster again. It was happening a lot lately. She'd never felt so...human. Yin cleared her throat and tried to summon anything other than the pain. Anger? Yes, she could get angry...but what for? They weren't..."together"...She had no basis, except that he'd been inconsiderate. He'd been an inconsiderate bastard of how she might've felt. Yin had never been too subtle about it. It was obvious she'd liked him. Then again, she'd vanished for 2 months straight without a word. This was what she reaped.
"I...I...Ramiel..." She began before stopping and taking a breath to collect herself. This was stupid. She was being so stupid. Spit it out and get it over with, and cry later when alone. Yin knew locking it away was unhealthy, but it'd been a practice of hers for so long that the habit was hard to break. One day...she honestly expected to burst. 'Maybe that's what happened with Isaak...'
Yin regained herself and stared straight into his hazel eyes. This was serious to her, but she didn't expect it to be serious to him. She was preparing for the worst, and possibly eternal rejection. "Ramiel...told me what happened while I was gone. Everything."

Gabriel's jaw nearly dropped, hazel eyes widening and smile wiping clean off his face. Yin was in tears, blubbering something about Ramiel. I knew I shouldn't have let that bastard talk with Yin alone. he thought to himself, bitterly, as he moved closer to the demons bed. He waited for her to calm down, eyes filling with sympathy. What was so horrible that she was breaking down like this? He just couldn't understand what was so...
SHIT!
I'm going to kill him. Gabe growled through clenched teeth, his cheeks turning a crimson shade. How dare his brother tell Yin everything that happened in her absence? He didn't have the right. He didn't have the damn right! Gabriel bit down on his bottom lip, to keep from screaming out, lifting himself from the side of Yin's bed and beating the mess out of the older archangel.
"Yinnybear..." he began, unsure what to say or do. How was he going to explain everything? He had no good excuses...no good reasons. Except for maybe the fact that Yin wasn't in a relationship with him. Or that she was gone for practically two months. But even then, he knew it was wrong to do it to her. To betray her like that.
If he really had wanted to, being the big bad archangel he was, he could have hunted Yin down with ease. But Gabriel hadn't. He hadn't and that's what knotted his stomach. If he had really cared so much about her, wouldn't he have hunted her down?
No! We weren't dating! he thought suddenly. I'm not going to allow myself to feel guilty! I didn't do a thing wrong!
"....Don't be mad with me....Please..." That was all Gabriel could really say. [/blockquote]

"I'm not mad." Yin wiped her eyes and stared down again at her sheets. It did occur to her that if he really wanted her that he could've found her. He was an Archangel. The fact was he didn't find her. He didn't want to chase her. He probably didn't even want her. Yin was just another girl on the list. Another girl..."It just...hurts. I mean...I know I vanished. I deserved it. It just...I just wish that..." Her dark eyes shut and mumbled, "I regret this. Leaving. I adore you. I'm sorry."
The demon was defeated. She hadn't any reason to be angry with him. They weren't a couple. She just ached because of the feelings she harbored for the Archangel. The feelings were probably dangerous anyways. The two of them could never be much, could they? It was a sad realization that slowly dawned on her. 'You're so dramatic and overemotional. Shut the fuck up and deal with it. Idiot.'
Yin opened her eyes and sighed as her shoulders slumped. Yeah, she was being an idiot about this. She was being...human? A woman? She didn't know. Yin did know that she was grown up and she could take care of herself. She was a big girl now, and she had to act like one. So, Yin looked up at him straight in the face and blinked away the wetness as best she could. "Ramiel said we shouldn't be together anymore. As in...near each other...He wants me to tell you to leave me alone, forever. He said it felt like the best option for both our well-beings. But..." she paused and glanced toward the window, "I really don't want that."

Leave her....Forever? F-FOREVER? The word echoed in his ears as they left Yin's mouth, jaw twitching, fighting to be unclenched. Teeth bit into the sides of his mouth and he fought against his urge to panic. He couldn't leave Yin! What was his brother thinking!? He had finally found someone he had cared about....and now he was supposed to just leave her alone?
"I really don't want that either." Gabriel voiced the exact thoughts that came to his mind, his hands curling into fists, stomach tightening into knots. Ramiel was going to try to tear them apart, but Gabe wasn't going to give up so easily. Especially now that he heard from Yin she didn't want this to happen. If she didn't want it, and Gabriel didn't want, could they work something out?
Or would Ramiel be too much of an ass to let them work things out between them?
Gabe moved towards the door, turning his back on Yin for a moment to glare at his older sibling. "You ass." he spat bitterly, his words like venom. "YOU ASSHOLE! What the HELL is wrong with you?" Smoke was practically coming from the archangel as he stormed forward, out into the hallway to where Ramiel stood. He was going to give that bastard a piece of his mind!
A rather angry, rather vicious, piece.

Suddenly my eyes are open (EVERYTHING COMES INTO FOCUS, OH) " Gabriel!" Ramiel heard Yin gasp his brother's name before said brother was out the door and yelling at him. He started as he turned to face Gabriel and his hand moved for his blade. It was a reflex, but Ramiel had no intentions of harming his brother. He could feel the anger radiating off the Archangel. This is what he'd feared would happen. The timebomb was nearly ready to explode. He thought quickly at his words. What could he say to calm his brother? " Gabriel, please, that language is highly unnecessary," Ramiel began in a calm tone. He stood his ground and kept an even-leveled gaze. " I simply told her the truth so you wouldn't hurt her later. It's my job. You know you brought this upon yourself, Gabriel. It didn't have to be this way!" From inside the hospital room he heard shuffling. Yin was forcing herself out of bed and trying to come into the hall to stop the two. Ramiel glanced in her direction and frowned. She shouldn't be getting up. " Please, you two, stop! Let's not fight right now..." Yin managed as she got out of her hospital room and peeked out at the two. Her dark eyes were wide with nervousness, and her body looked ready to fall to the floor. " Can't we talk about this?" (WE ARE ALL ILLUMINATED ) Lights are shining on our faces, blinding

"Yin..." Gabriel's voice turned soft, looking over at the demon hanging in the doorway, ready to collapse. "....You shouldn't be out of bed." He left it at that and snapped his fingers, his companion appearing suddenly back under the sheets of the hospital bed, an invisible force keeping her there, preventing her from getting up, but not harming her. She was merely stuck there, unable to use her legs.
Gabe huffed to himself, eyes lingering on the room, pitifully. Then he remembered that Ramiel was still standing there and turning his attention right on back, lifting a finger and pointing it at him accusingly. "Don't try to tell me that bullshit." His voice sounded less threatening now and it even cracked a little, although his glare was still strong enough to pierce through steel.
"You didn't have to tell her, Ramiel!" It was the truth! It wasn't necessary! Yin would have been better off not knowing. Ignorance is bliss, isn't that supposed to be the saying? Of course, ignorance isn't bliss on some occasions, but on others, well, it is.
Gabriel took a step forward, his own hand going into his own pocket, almost as if mimicking his brothers movements. If Ramiel was going to go for his blade, Gabe would go for his as well. "I'm not going to leave her alone." he states, matter of factly. "And if you have a problem with that then you can kiss my feathery white ass."

Suddenly my eyes are open (EVERYTHING COMES INTO FOCUS, OH) " I don't want to argue with you, brother. It is Yin's choice on if she wants you around or not. I simply suggested it otherwise. Only when it becomes a true threat to her health will I intervene." Ramiel relaxed when his brother didn't jump and start pounding on his face. His body relaxed and his hand fell away from his blade. He glanced toward the room that Yin was now trapped in. Ramiel could hear her struggling. She was a persistent demon for what it was worth. It was a pain to him, honestly. Ramiel eyed his brother, " I refuse to keep my mouth closed when her feelings were so blunt. She deserved to know so she could make a proper choice. Unfortunately, it seems she still refuses to take the better route." He loved his brother. Loved him. Gabriel just was not a good lover in a long-term sense. That is what Ramiel believed. He'd yet to be proven wrong. Yeah, he had a slight problem with the fact the two were going to stay together. He wasn't very fond at the idea of kissing his brother's ass, though. Ramiel decided that, for now, the two should call a truce. He sighed and ran his fingers through his poofy hair before gesturing toward Yin's door. " Stay with her if you will, but you will not lead her on. Either you go in there and state your true feelings to her, or you cease the relations I'm aware you two are having." (WE ARE ALL ILLUMINATED ) Lights are shining on our faces, blinding
