It might not have been news to anyone else but to Ruby, after nearly six centuries of the ability to heal rapidly, she now found out that pain really hurt a lot. The demoness who prided herself on her strength, her fortitude, and most of all her ability to stand up to most opponents in a hand to hand fight just didn’t have the power anymore to, well not against three demons. The night had started off so well, she had gotten herself a good dinner, found a game of pool with some idiots and earned enough for a hotel room. Just as she was putting the key into the door the three demons came up from behind her and grabbed her. She did put up a good fight but without the benefit of her demonic powers and her knife she really hadn’t a chance in the world, even with the ability to spout off an exorcism, which she damn well tried. Now thanks to that she found herself bound and gagged on the floor of a warehouse as the three demons discussed her fate not to far off. “The Winchesters are in town, I say we posses her and go after them, they’ll do anything to track her down after that, perfect revenge.”She closed her eyes as they spoke that name, it was like a slap in the face, Sam was close? She had wanted to see him, to call him, to talk to him every moment since she had been back but she couldn’t bring herself to pick up a phone, shame kept her from it. Now it seemed she was helpless, going to be a passenger in a visit to him and Dean only to possibly die at their hands again. Irony, you are the biggest bitch the world has ever known. She turned away from the demons and the door, wincing as she did, her chest hurt from where they had kicked her over and over again but the fact that now bitter tears were falling from her eyes was something she wanted to hide from her captors. She still hadn’t complete control over the flood of emotions that being fully human gave you and the last thing she wanted was for the demons to see they were getting to her. Well, at least she’d get to see Sam one last time before she died….again. { made by thesintax @ livejournal, please leave this credit intact }

I set a course for winds of fortune But I hear the voices say Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more. ---------------------------- Dean wasn’t in a good mood, a couple of demons had been pulling young women off of the streets for a while now all of the signs where there but because they had been in different states it had been hard to trace it to anything, that was one thing that he missed about Sam aka nerd boy, if anyone could work out the patterns in a hands on way then it would be Sam. Bobby was extremely busy and Dean hadn’t been able to get a hold of him all day which suggested that Bobby was either off of the grid right now or something was up, Dean didn’t know which was but he knew that right niow he was on his own and that he would have to take at least some caution in this situation.
Armed with a handgun, holy water, a bible and the knife that he had killed Ruby with he was more than capable of being able to hunt down the demons and make sure that any girls that they had captured and not yet killed would be ok. Reaching the warehouse he stopped and rang Sam. There was a couple of rings before his younger brother picked up the phone.
“Dean.” The voice of the younger Winchester said “is everything ok? Is anyone hurt?”
“Everyone is fine Sam.” Dean said dryly “just I am on a hunt and I thought I would check in, also whilst I had you on the phone I wanted to make sure that one single exorcism would work on a number of demons at once.”
“It should do,” Sam said “of course there is more of a chance of you getting stopped but if I know you then you would have taken the precautions needed.”
“Thanks Sammy.” He said “and I’ll see your chubby 12 year old ass in a couple of days for a beer.” Dean then hung up the phone and got out of the car, the fact that Sam had convinced him that his plan should work made him feel a lot better. Pouring the holy water that he had into a heavy duty super soaker ne laughed to himself, when he was with his dad or Sam he would never have thought of this because of the fact that they where much too mature of it. Kicking the door open he fired a wave from the super soaker burning all three demons, as the first one ran at him he ducked out of the way and shot him with a hand gun in both knees, at least if he was fast one was living. As the next one grabbed him turning him around Dean on reflex shot him in the heart twice, quickly he brought Ruby’s knife across the man’s throat so that he killed the demon also.
As the final demon ran at him Dean was now just bored, he fired on the man openly with the gun shooting him in both legs. Opening the bible he read he a quick exorcism, which got the demons out of both of the men calling for an ambulance he walked over to the woman he walked to the side that he could see that it was Ruby, or looked like her.
“You better talk fast or so help me god they will be picking pieces of you up from all over this room.” He said shortly.

In reflex to the Latin Ruby winced, moving away, for a moment Dean’s voice and the words making her forget that she had no fear of it anymore. Then panic set in, of all the hunters in all the world why did it have to be Dean Winchester. That would be like her falling across Lilith in a dark alley or Lucifer….crap he was out and about wasn’t he? One problem at a time… She opened her eyes, looking up at Dean with those big dark eyes of hers, struggling against the restraints and crying out under the gag from the pain from her chest. Couldn’t he reason out for himself that he had just done an exorcism and she was still lying there alive, in her body still? It was funny to her that of all the bodies she felt that this one was hers, it wasn’t like coma girl had been her meatsuit for the longest but it was like she had told Sam, she was alone inside of her and it was like it was hers. Maybe that is why when Bast brought her back she asked for coma girl and not her original form. She worked at the gag more, hearing his words, her teeth finally snapping the last of the threads in two from it as it feel away from her mouth and she spit it out. “I’m human…please don’t kill me.” Her voice sounded pitiful, something her as a demon would never have allowed, as she struggled against the ties, tears falling from her eyes from the pain it was causing her. All she wanted to do was get her feet and hands free and run, put distance between herself and Dean before he decided to use those skills that Alistair had taught him in the pit and make her really pay for what she did. She knew now what she always had known, between Dean and Sam Dean was the more dangerous of the two. Dean was the predator who would cut an enemy down without blinking twice, like he had no conscious, nothing stopping him from asking if he should destroy a thing, all those decisions were beyond him. Why couldn’t Sam be there with him, she was sure if he had heard her words, saw the state she was in that he would take some sort of pity on her and stop Dean but she didn’t have the safety net of him. She hated human emotion and how it ruled her now, fear was the worst of it. All she wanted was strong arms around her, holding her and telling her it was going to be alright. She was a hunted thing now and had no way of protecting herself, this encounter more than proved it. { made by thesintax @ livejournal, please leave this credit intact }

Dean had been surprised at Ruby’s actions and words, of course the fact that he had just exorcised the room rang true in his head but Sam had said that the meat suit that Ruby had taken had been that of a woman that had been in a coma, Dean doubted that the woman would have survived everything that she had been put through, that meant that Ruby was human, that in itself was something that he wasn’t sure how to respond to, what she had done to Sam whilst he was in hell and not long out of it had caused the apocalypse.
At the same time though she did look beaten and broken, she looked barely together, he wasn’t saying he trusted her, far from that. But she didn’t look like she could cause any harm to anyone right now, she looked like she had been beaten half to death if he was being honest an she didn’t appear to have any back up or the fact that she had been tied up by demons had all been reasons to suggest there was more going on. He really didn’t want to trust Ruby but at the same time he got the feeling that she wasn’t trying to trick him either that she could actually be trusted not that he believed her.
At the same time however, was the fact that he couldn’t seem to want to kill her, she had been tied up, there had to be more to this situation than what he could see in front of him. “What happened?” he said.

She stopped struggling against the ropes, closing her eyes to fight back tears of frustration, pain, and shame. Why hadn’t he just killed her already? Oh right, it was because she was human. The Winchesters didn’t kill humans, well Sam didn’t but she was pretty sure that if he thought he could get away with it, like say for instance if Sam was not where around him and someone he hated was, Dean was more than willing to break that little rule. “The Goddess Bast brought me back human. She needs me to deliver a message to Sam. Please just untie me and take me to him and I’ll go somewhere you both never have to see me again.” Of course that was easier said that done and she knew it as she tried to steel herself against seeing Sam again. Human emotion playing with her now, she knew that she might very well not be able to just simply walk away from him, she might very well not be able to tear herself away from that man who had changed her so much as a demon and now was the reason she choose to come back a weak and helpless human. { made by thesintax @ livejournal, please leave this credit intact }

---------------------------- Dean didn’t trust Ruby in the slightest, factor in the fact that he didn’t know who Bast was either and you had a situation that wasn’t good. Also the fact that he didn’t know what exactly was going on was something that made the situation worse in that Dean didn’t know who this godess was but if she was bringing Ruby back to life then Dean got the feeling that it wasn’t good after all because of the fact that she had brought back a demon, sure she had brought her back as human but that was the woman that had caused the start of the apocalypse. Laughing he loaded his gun before helping untie her.
“We’ll do this my way if we do it.” He said “you hand over any weapons you have, I have a gun on you at all times and you so much as sneeze without warning and I’ll blow your brains out.”

She slowly brought her hands around, rubbing at her sore wrists and nodding to him. “I sneeze I die, got it. When I get to where Sam is I am going to have to call My Lady so she can deliver the message Dean. She’ll show up, do her whole messenger thing, then it’s all over.” She carefully got up, yelping softly as she did, wrapping an arm around her ribs, dark eyes looking to Dean and then going to the gun. “I understand I have a lot to explain and not much breath to explain it in. Mind if I do it with both of you in the room? I mean unless you can get your guardian angel to pop in here and heal me.” Normally the demon would have balked at the idea of Cas showing up but Ruby had no fear of an Angel, well no more than any other human in the know. Her true fear had come to pass and she was standing near it already but she still lived, in pain but living. { made by thesintax @ livejournal, please leave this credit intact }

I set a course for winds of fortune But I hear the voices say Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more. ---------------------------- At Ruby’s comments about someone else being involved Dean didn’t like it but he had to admit that she didn’t look like much of a threat right now, she was inured and he could have killed her easily but he had decided to let her have her chance, after all she didn’t seem to be screaming that she was going to kill him and that was always a good start if he was being honest yet that didn’t mean that he could trust her, but it was just meaning that he wasn’t going to blow her brains out as they might have needed the message.
“It can wait till we are all together.” Dean said “as can my guardian angel healing you because to be honest if we are letting you get back to full strength I would rather have all of my cards on the table before you play yours as I don’t have a clue what you have up your sleeves.”
