BLACKBIRD SINGING IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT TAKE THESE BROKEN WINGS AND LEARN TO FLY YOU WERE ONLY WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT TO RISE It hadn't been hard to convince him. The Watcher was ignorant of some modern human ideals, and he somewhat lacked a social expertise. It had worked all to Yin's advantage when she'd helped him open up the coffee shop. Of course, he'd made all the final decisions. Yin, with her quick tongue and manipulative talent, had just been able to squeeze a few things in there. For example, the outfit she had talked him into letting her wear. The coffee shop was small, and she was his only worker. Yin was sure the two wouldn't need anyone else. This meant she got to be the only sexy female in the place. Perfect.
While her new manager worked the cashier, Yin strode down the rows to make sure everything was clean. The place had to look nice. It was competing with the local Hooters in terms of outfit, but Yin felt she won that prize.
"Our first two customers are coming in soon! I invited them," Yin called to Chazaqiel in a sing-song voice. It had been hard to convince them to let her work with a Watcher, but they'd get over it. She wasn't in their little Heavenly conflict and she wanted to work. Chazaqiel had befriended her earlier and offered the position. Yin had been more than happy to oblige. "I have a feeling our freshly baked muffins are going to get raided..."
Dark eyes sparkling with amusement, Yin twirled around at the sound of the little bell ringing signaling her guests had arrived. 'I bet they both drop dead for different reasons.'
"Hello," Yin greeted them cheerily. She could already see Ramiel's eyes widen with utter...despair? It almost made her burst into laughter. "Oh, Rammie! What's wrong, sweetheart? You look about to have a heart attack." She feigned a pouty face before leading the two to a seat and placing a small menu down on the table. They didn't have much...they were a coffee shop, for goodness sake! "So...what can I get my two favorite boys?"

A coffee shop? Why? Why did Yin have to pick a coffee shop to work at? Why not a bar or a club? All those options sounded so much more appealing to the archangel. Gabriel had never been fond of coffee, finding it bitter and just...ew. No offense to any coffee lovers out there, but Gabe would much rather drink muddy river water than that sludge. Just thinking about it running down his throat gave him the willies. So nasty.
So when Gabriel showed up to Yin's "new work", he knew in the back of his head he was only in it for a smooching session with his girlfriend and a couple delicious muffins. Surely they had muffins! After-all, what kind of shop would they be without delicious goodies such as those? It would be pure blasphemy!
"Carebear!" Gabriel's jaw dropped in surprise, not the bad kind either. He was pleasantly surprised, unlike Ramiel who was scowling so hard that Gabe thought he'd burst a vein pretty soon. He sat down in a chair, his eyes never leaving Yin's outfit. "That...You..." he was almost at a lost of words, his heart drumming in his chest. "Your even sexier than I remember!"
He didn't even notice Chazaqiel over at the counter, watching him with an evil eye and nibbling on a coffee bean. His focus was all on Yin and her hot little waitress uniform. "What can you get me? Well I think you already got me what I wanted!"
What was that, you ask? Why, Yin was what he wanted. Gabriel had a sweet-tooth and Yin was looking like a rather decadent piece of candy at the moment. Not that he'd ever admit to "craving Yin". It just sounded wrong and it would surely win him a few looks of death from his older brother. That tightwad, no good son of a---

BLACKBIRD SINGING IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT TAKE THESE BROKEN WINGS AND LEARN TO FLY YOU WERE ONLY WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT TO RISE The reactions she got where exactly what she expected. She flashed a teasing smirk to Gabriel and an innocent blink to Ramiel. Ramiel was seriously not going to turn her into some straight-laced girl while he was watching her. She was still going to have fun, and this was fun. Also, she got paid! The money was helpful when she didn't feel like hanging low for a while for ditching a check, or making Gabriel pay. Well...not that he usually paid anyway...the two both sort of ditched expenses like a plague. Yin looked between her two angels and tapped the notepad she held eagerly. She'd never worked a real job in her life. It'd been slave's work as a human. It was safe to say Yin was actually excited about working.
Ramiel glanced at the small menu, but Yin knew he was internally disapproving of the outfit and nervous that Chazaqiel was at the register. It was a Watcher and a demon working to make their small meal...the two Archangels had a right to be cautious. "I just want some Earl Gray tea, please."
Yin wrote down the order and patted Ramiel gently on the shoulder, "I know what you're thinking, Ramiel. This outfit isn't that bad. I'm not going to get in any trouble with it. Chill, okay? I appreciate you watching out for me, but I'm a big girl." Her attention turned to Gabriel and a playful smirk played across her lips. Oh, so he was flirting now? Yin leaned down so her face was closer to his and so her cleavage was showing. Yeah, she would admit to that... "Oh, am I on the menu, Gabe? Well, you'll have to wait till my lunch hour, mister. I'm on the clock...but...I'll gladly oblige."
The demon winked and kissed him on the cheek before deciding to get him some chocolate muffins. They'd hold him over until she was available. Chocolate was like sex, after all. It released the same hormones.
"Okay, I'll get you boys your orders and be right back!"
She sauntered away; hips swaying to draw the attention of wandering eyes. The only wandering eyes, she figured, were that of her boyfriend's. Why not give him a little show? Make him squirm before she could reward him...It was cruely fun...but, hey, Yin was still a demon.
"Hey Chaza, can you get those chocolate muffins I baked from the kitchen? I'll make the tea."
Meanwhile, Ramiel glanced at Gabriel. "How can you approve of that...that...it shouldn't even be considered clothes. What if she gets eyed by perverts and gets hurt? This is clearly a bad idea, Gabriel, and you're the only one who can talk sense into that stubborn woman."

Gabriel ogled Yin as she left, eyes watching her tiny little skirt until she got behind the counter. A smirk was running across his face and he was already having fantasies about her lunch break. Whenever that was. Gabe looked over at Ramiel, beaming at his older brother. "What are you talking about Rambo? That outfit is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! And your right, some pervert will be eying her, a pervert named Gabriel." He sniggered, joking with his brother. Well....half joking. You know...in fact...he wasn't joking one bit!
Meanwhile, Chazaqiel nodded at Yin, slinking away into the kitchen to get those muffins she asked for. When he bundled them up, he was seriously considering putting something in them. Cleaner, perhaps? Poison the baby killing bastard! But then he thought better of himself and merely set them onto a plate for his waitress to take out to Gabriel.
Just because the archangel was a raging assclown, did not mean he would be one too and resort to his level!
"Order up." Chaza says, rather cheerfully, pushing the bad thoughts out of his head. If he was going to run a coffee shop, he was going to do it happily. No matter what assholes he had to serve.
Gabriel, on the other hand, wasn't cheerful. No...he was ECSTATIC! His eyes were on the clock on the wall and he was watching the seconds tick by. Lunch break. Lunch break. Lunch break. Come on. Come on. Come on. Hurry up. Hurry up. Hurry up.

BLACKBIRD SINGING IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT TAKE THESE BROKEN WINGS AND LEARN TO FLY YOU WERE ONLY WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT TO RISE Yin returned to the two with the muffins and tea. She set the tea down in front of Ramiel and noticed how he made it a point to not stare at her. The angel was never going to get laid. He avoided sex like a plague. Yin couldn't understand how she'd gotten two completely different angels. One she loved and was a party-goer who enjoyed a hedonistic lifestyle, and the other was a conservative bookworm sort who might've been the biggest science geek she'd ever met. It was quite the dynamic duo. Yin wondered if she'd get comedy sketches out of it.
"Here you go! I cooked these muffins this morning. They're nice and fresh. You're my taste tester, and you'd better be honest. I worked hard on these."
Honestly, Yin wasn't sure if she could cook decently or not. If not, then she'd have to see if Chazaqiel could. They needed muffins and other small foods to serve with the coffee. Bakery couldn't be that hard, right? She fidgeted at the thought that her dish would be unsatisfactory. She figured Gabriel would be more honest than Ramiel. Ramiel wasn't supposed to tell her things that'd dishearten her, unless it was necessary.
The demon took a seat with the two angels. There were no other customers right now. There probably wouldn't be too many of them until about an hour or two later. She had time to waste, and break was almost here. Yin knew who was looking forward to that.
Ramiel could not comprehend his brother. He would never understand Gabriel. He merely shook his head at his comments and thanked Yin politely for the tea before taking a sip of it. Sweet things...Ramiel loved sweet things. It might've been the only thing the two Archangels had in common. Ever.
"The tea tastes great, Yin. This will be a nice, little shop. I do love little shops." He gave her a small smile before returning to his tea. He wasn't going to dare go after those muffins less he wanted Gabriel stabbing his hand with a fork.

"Honest is my middle name. Right after 'Bastard', 'Ass' and a few other words I'd rather not talk about." Gabriel retorted, scooping a muffin up from off the plate. It sure did smell good, he just hoped it tasted as good. Gabe didn't want to be rude, but if Yin's muffins taste like dirt...well...He glanced over at Ramiel. On second thought....maybe he should lie....
Gabriel, examined the muffin over and over, praying that it wasn't poisoned before taking a giant bite out of it. He chewed for a minute, swallowed and took another bite. Hey! It wasn't half bad! He'd expected it to be dry and tasteless, but it was actually moist and fluffy! Yeah, it wasn't the best he'd ever had, but it certainly beats those dollar store muffins.
"Wowee, Yinnybear, these things are great!" he chimed, nibbling contently on them. "Next time go a little light on the flour and you'll have perfection!"
Chazaqiel, while Gabriel was busy yammering about food (he had a tendency to do that), was busying his own-self with the kitchen. He was attempting to stack up all the tins and cookie sheets into the counter above the sink and, lets just say, this wasn't going as well as he had planned. They just wouldn't fit, not all of them anyways and Chaza was trying to squeeze them all in. He stood wavering on his tip toes, pushing the last of them in at the top.
CRASH!
They all came hurtling down on top of him and Chazaqiel let out a loud 'EEP' as he fell onto the floor. Clink. Clink. CLUNK. He rubbed at his head and stared at the mess around him....
"OH BLOODY HELL!"

BLACKBIRD SINGING IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT TAKE THESE BROKEN WINGS AND LEARN TO FLY YOU WERE ONLY WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT TO RISE Yin's dark eyes grew bright at the praise. She took note to go lighter on the flour next time as she was determined to make more-than-satisfactory muffins. She flashed Gabriel a wide smile before kissing him on the cheek as a light blush crawled up her cheeks. She hadn't felt so excited over the idea of cooking since...well...ever. Her mind was already going into a daydream of cooking for the two Archangels as they lived peacefully and happily around the world. If only it were more than just that...a daydream.
"If they're at least satisfactory, then I suppose I can take an early break." She winked suggestively before jumping at the crashing sound. Yin glanced back toward the kitchen with a worried expression and stood from her place in the chair. "Excuse me," she said quickly over her shoulder as she went to check on Chazaqiel. She had to make sure the Watcher hadn't killed himself. That'd end this all very quickly.
"Chaza, are you okay?" Yin asked as she peeked into the kitchen to see cookie sheets everywhere. She sighed and went to start picking them up. He was surely fine. "What'd you do, Chaza? I can't leave you alone for two seconds, can I?" Her expression was good-natured despite her scolding. He was an amusing angel, though considered an antagonist to Heaven. Yin felt they had that in common anyways. Well, except for the odd Heaven's-orders-to-protect-her thing going on. That was a bit...well, just that...odd. "Come on. Help me pick this mess up."
Ramiel watched Yin go before giving Gabriel a serious look. He made a soft 'ahem' sound before slowly bringing up the thing he wanted to discuss. This was going to be hard. The two were so damn stubborn, but he was hoping to make them appeal to reason. It was an impossible feat with Gabriel, but a challenge Ramiel was willing to take in order to protect his charge. The topic was a touchy one. Both had reacted rather...dramatically...in Ramiel's opinion, to it. "Gabriel. I honestly think you're putting my charge in danger by staying with her." He lifted his hand to silence his brother before he could protest; his brother had a quick mouth, and Ramiel wasn't going to allow it until he said everything he had to say. "I had to protect her from being incinerated by Michael recently. He's not happy about this, and I have a feeling a lot of people won't be. Angels and demons alike." The Archangel glanced around to make sure Yin was not coming back anytime soon. He leaned in closer and lowered his voice to a whisper, "In all honesty, Gabriel, I'm not trying to be...I'm just trying to do my job. I just want you to think rationally about this decision. Whether you promised to be there or not, Gabriel, she's a demon and you're an Archangel. For her sake, think about what could happen. You and I can't be there with her 24/7." He leaned back and gave a long, heavy sigh. He hated having to do this, but it was the truth. Ramiel couldn't let his brother live blindly like he wanted to. No, Gabriel had to grow up sometime. He had to learn. "I know you like her, Gabriel. I do. I'm so sorry to have to be the one to say it. I truly am, but I don't think...I don't think this is healthy. For either of you. I think...well, I think that...in the end...this is going to kill you both."
With that, Ramiel silenced himself and looked down at his tea. He picked up the cup and took a small sip as his heart sank. This felt like when he was talking to his innocent little brother Chazaqiel so many years ago. There'd been nothing he could say, and he'd felt helpless. Ramiel felt helpless now. Could he not save any of his brothers?
